Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer-Remote. This remote position is located out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role
  • Provides administrative support to Programs and Projects within the Commercial Nuclear organization using standard office equipment, corporate systems, processes, policies and procedures.

  • Performs document/procedure preparation, record keeping, organizing and distributing project information.

  • This role requires a senior experienced project engineering professional responsible and supporting the execution and coordination of engineering activities within the project, ensuring that deliverables, interfaces, and technical information flow efficiently across disciplines and project functions.

  • Will act as project team lead and hold delegated technical authority from the Engineering Manager.

  • Will operate above Systems Engineers within the Project Execution Teams and own integrated design execution for multiple related systems.

  • Reports technically to the Engineering Manager and programmatically to the Systems Engineering Manager and are responsible for:

    • Leading system-level design work within delegated authority.
    • Integrating contributions from Systems Engineers and discipline engineers.

    • Maintaining technical progress and reporting schedule status.

    • Identifying and managing cross-system interfaces

    • Maintaining alignment with cost/schedule expectations.

    • Ensuring consistency of design basis documents, criteria, and architecture.

  • Assists in coordinating engineering activities across disciplines.

  • Follows up on deliverables to ensure alignment with project schedule.

  • Tracks progress and highlight delays or missing inputs.

  • Supports resolution of daytoday coordination issues.

  • Maintains and update engineering deliverables registers.

  • Monitors status: Drawings; Specifications; Data sheets; Equipment lists.

  • Ensures timely circulation, review, and issuance of deliverables.

  • Supports coordination between: Engineering disciplines; Engineering and Procurement; Engineering and Construction.

  • Tracks interface requirements and ensure required inputs are available.

  • Escalates interface gaps or inconsistencies.

  • Assists in preparing and compiling technical input packages (RFI/RFP).

  • Follows up on technical documentation required for procurement.

  • Tracks vendor data submission and review status.

  • Supports coordination of technical clarifications through Procurement.

  • Maintains slogs of: Action items; Deliverables status; Outstanding issues.

  • Identifies and communicates: Execution issues; Potential risks related to engineering deliverables or interfaces.

  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines. Will conduct mentoring and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.

  • Performs checking and reviewing to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and procedures and client expectations.

  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or related Engineering Field.

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (Project Engineer/Project Controls).

  • Experience in nuclear industry.

  • Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects (industrial, infrastructure, or energy preferred).

  • Basic understanding of engineering project workflows.

  • Familiarity with project documentation and deliverables tracking.

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and matrix environment.

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to track multiple deliverables.

  • Good communication and followup capability.

  • Performance Indicators:

    • Timeliness and accuracy of deliverables tracking.

    • Effectiveness in followup and coordination.

    • Responsiveness to project needs and issues.

    • Quality and completeness of reporting and documentation.

    • Contribution to smooth engineering execution.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mastered the in-depth knowledge and experience required in process systems design.

  • Operate with a high degree of independence and minimal guidance.

  • Have significant impact across a range of functional activities.

  • Provides guidance to other colleagues through best practices.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810e.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
