Position Summary:
The Project Engineer provides technical support to construction staff under the supervision of a Project Manager and serves as a vital link between the office and field, helping to ensure projects run smoothly. Working closely with project managers, field management, and subcontractors, the Project Engineer supports day-to-day operations by coordinating technical details, maintaining project flow, and assisting with problem-solving throughout the construction process. This role is essential to keeping projects organized, efficient, and aligned with company standards.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project teams, field staff, and design/client stakeholders to manage submittals, RFIs, and related documentation
  • Support permitting processes, including securing building and trade permits
  • Assist with procurement, equipment/material buyouts, and monitor costs and progress
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of project schedules
  • Ensure work complies with codes, drawings, and specifications and report issues promptly to the Project Manager or Superintendent
  • Prepare project observations, punch lists, and closeout documentation
  • Provide technical and engineering support to ensure alignment and progress of project activities
  • Support and/or lead project meetings to communicate updates, address challenges, and track changes in scope
  • Draft and manage change events and proposed change orders
  • Assist with site safety coordination and documentation
  • Provide general support to the Project Manager as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership to ensure smooth operations and organizational efficiency


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical contracting or related construction field
  • Basic understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial or industrial settings
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work on-site and in a fast-paced team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical contracting or related construction field
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar)
  • Experience managing submittals, RFIs, and construction documentation
  • Knowledge of local mechanical codes and industry standards
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety certification or ability to obtain
