Position Summary
The CNA/Program Assistant plays a vital dual role in supporting the medical and programmatic needs of participants in The League's Adult Medical Day and Day Programs. This position blends hands-on personal care with engaging, person-centered activities to promote health, independence, and social connection. The CNA/Program Assistant works closely with nursing staff, program coordinators, and other team members to ensure participants receive compassionate care in a supportive, stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Medical & Personal Care (CNA Duties)
  • Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, weight, and other health indicators as directed by nursing staff.
  • Support medication administration processes under the supervision of licensed nurses.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in participant condition promptly to nursing staff.
Program & Activity Support (Program Assistant Duties)
  • Facilitate and assist with recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to participant abilities and interests.
  • Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and encourage participation in group and community activities.
  • Assist in transporting participants to and from activities, including wheelchair transfers and mobility support.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive environment that promotes independence, dignity, and choice.
  • Collaborate with the program team to adapt activities and materials for diverse abilities.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Current Maryland CNA certification in good standing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and provide mobility assistance to participants (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse disabilities.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience in an adult day program, long-term care, or disability services environment.
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and person-centered care approaches.
Schedule
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, daytime hours (no evenings, weekends, or holidays).
