Job description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Plant Manager partners closely with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and distribution teams to drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key leadership role in developing team members, strengthening Service Wire's safety-first culture, and supporting plant-wide performance goals.
 
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Promote a safety-first culture by leading by example and ensuring safe work practices across all departments
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards
  • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
  • Ensure plant maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment
  • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost performance
  • Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery (OTD), and Cost objectives
  • Coordinate production activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of manufacturing schedules
  • Monitor production performance and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime
  • Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve operational issues and maximize equipment uptime
  • Support implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices across manufacturing processes
  • Assist with capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements
  • Support warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations to ensure timely delivery and inventory accuracy
  • Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to align production schedules with material availability
  • Help improve order fulfillment processes and on-time delivery performance
  • Support production planning and prioritization to meet customer demands
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors, operators, and plant personnel
  • Promote employee engagement and teamwork across manufacturing and distribution functions
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Communicate Service Wire goals, expectations, and performance metrics to team members
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
  • Participate in production meetings and review key performance indicators
  • Support quality management systems and ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to plant operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, purchasing, and engineering
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
  • Experience in continuous improvement processes or manufacturing plant operations
  • Strong team development skills
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • In-person attendance is required
  • May require occasional extended hours based on business needs
