Summary
Employee will be assigned to the Office of the Director, VA Medical Center, Madison, WI, with primary responsibility for monitoring and coordinating facility activities to optimize workload capture, resource utilization, information management, revenue enhancement, and implement business intelligence solutions to improve hospital efficiency.

Duties include but may not be limited to the following:
  • Serves in a consultant role to hospital leadership (primarily the Associate Director) providing evaluation, guidance, recommendations, and oversight of activities related to workload capture, resource utilization, information management, revenue enhancement, and to develop business intelligence solutions to improve hospital efficiency.
  • Serves as a principal advisor to facility leadership regarding implementation of business intelligence solutions and systems reporting.
  • Conducts studies, analyzes findings, and makes recommendations to management (on a quantitative or qualitative basis) regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of hospital program operations and offers strategies to more effectively meet related goals, mission, and objectives.
  • Collects and examines data, reviews hospital administrative workflows, and designs solutions using available business intelligence tools and technological solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of hospital operations.
  • Develops and implements action plans to implement solutions in partnership with hospital stakeholders to implement new technologies and reporting tools that improve the efficiency of business operations, while maintaining the highest compliance standards.
  • Researches and investigates new or improved technologies and identifies appropriate areas to apply to improve performance.
  • Coordinates and disseminates data, special projects, etc. relevant to responsibilities with medical center staff for review and/or action and assures activities requiring response are accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Plans, develops, and conducts formal and informal training programs relevant to business intelligence technologies and solutions, reporting, and data/validation/certification.
  • Develops training materials or other tools to assist managers in utilizing technology, data and reports that are produced.
  • Conducts surveys or reviews of Service Lines, as requested and provides written reports on findings along with recommendations for improving program activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must also have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: conducting studies, analyzing findings, and making recommendations regarding the effectiveness of clinical program operations; serving as a consultant to leadership on business intelligence solutions; collecting and analyzing data; applying new technologies to operational processes; developing and conducting training programs; serving as a technical advisor to facility leadership; and preparing reports.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
