Job description

The Test Engineer trains and oversees the work of Lab technicians and other Engineers to analyze test setups, test methods and results. Assist with lab activities to increase efficiency and implement process improvements. Develop project plans using ELP webpage, track and maintain schedules to ensure on time completion. Facilitate lab’s efforts to maintain ISO 17025, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards. The Test Engineer is compliance and results oriented, has strong work ethics and integrity.

Position Responsibilities may include:

  • Develop Test protocols and Lab work instructions for our Products using relevant Test standards
  • Schedule evaluation of Test equipment used for the simulation of various environmental conditions
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of Test data with a goal of zero defective results
  • Hands on involvement in requirements analysis, test data preparation, test case design and test execution.
  • Maintain flexibility and cooperation in assisting interested parties in completion of all miscellaneous technical tasks (Equipment Calibrations, Testing documentation, Lab Maintenance etc.)
  • Assist lab resources to conceptualize and analyze the Test set-ups, methods and conditions of Products based on the specific needs of customer
  • Develop project plans using formal Gantt charts, track/maintain project schedules to ensure on time completions
  • Direct the activities of lab resources as needed to increase efficiency of Lab
  • Facilitate Engineering Lab’s effort to maintain ISO 17025, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Standards
  • Conduct internal lab audits/Management reviews as per schedule
  • Execute changes to reduce company costs with no degradation in quality

Nature and Scope:

  • Takes direction from Lab Manager.
  • Mentor Lab technicians
  • Assist Lab technicians to execute cost effective and high-quality testing

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Should have advanced knowledge of HVAC System design and refrigeration cycle.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the fields of Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and Mass Transfer.
  • Must be familiar with manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques.
  • Should have the ability to shorten the product development cycle time using DFA and DFM techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Bill of Materials, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Must be proficient in developing and executing processes in a lab environment
  • Strong Engineering analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.

Experience:

  • 2 plus years in related field
  • Prior experience in ISO 17025 or equivalent accredited lab environment is required
  • Knowledge of HVAC safety and governing standards is required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Thesis or publications in the fields of Thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics etc. preferred.
  • EPA 608 certification preferred

People Management: No

Physical Requirements / Working Environment:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. Position will require support of multiple facilities until transition to DTTP is complete.
