Role: Engineering Lab Manager(RF Systems, Automation & AI-Aware)
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highlycapable Engineering Lab Manager to oversee our hardware lab operations,maintain advanced RF and electronic test equipment, and support the developmentof cutting-edge systems. This role blends hands-on lab management with technicaldepth in RF measurements, coding/automation, and modern AI-enabled workflows.The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting circuits, managingtechnicians, and improving lab productivity through software and intelligenttooling.
Key Responsibilities:
Lab Operations &Equipment Management:
  • Own day-to-day operation of the engineering lab, ensuring readiness, safety, and efficiency
  • Manage, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot RF and electronic test equipment (e.g., VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes)
  • Develop and enforce lab processes, documentation, and best practices
  • Track equipment inventory, utilization, and lifecycle planning
  • Interface with vendors for procurement, calibration, and repairs

RF Measurement &Technical Support:
  • Support engineers in performing RF measurements including S-parameters, power measurements, and load-pull
  • Assist in test setup design, debugging, and validation of RF systems
  • Ensure measurement repeatability, accuracy, and proper lab methodologies
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues across PCB, system, and test setups

Automation, Software &Data Systems:
  • Develop scripts and tools (Python, MATLAB, or similar) to automate test workflows and data collection
  • Build and maintain lab data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting tools
  • Integrate instruments using SCPI, APIs, or custom interfaces
  • Drive improvements in lab efficiency through software and automation

AI Enablement &Innovation:
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML tools to lab workflows (e.g., automated analysis, anomaly detection, test optimization)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate AI-assisted development and debugging tools
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies relevant to hardware engineering and lab environments
  • Promote smart data practices that enable future AI applications

Team Leadership &Technician Management:
  • Lead and mentor lab technicians building, assembling, and modifying circuits and test setups
  • Plan and prioritize technician workloads to align with engineering timelines
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship, documentation, and quality control
  • Foster a collaborative, safety-first, and continuous improvement culture

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware lab environments, preferably with RF systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with RF test and measurement equipment
  • Experience supporting PCB bring-up, debugging, and circuit validation
  • Proficiency in programming (Python preferred) for automation and data analysis
  • Experience managing or leading technicians or lab personnel
