Job description

Assistant Inventory Planner
Emeryville, CA (Hybrid)


You arean Assistant Planner who supports inventory planning and merchandise distribution strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and inventory productivity across all store locations. Reporting to the Sr. Inventory Planner, this role is highly analytical and hands-on, requiring strong decision-making skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage inventory performance while supporting company merchandising objectives. 


This position pays: $30-$35 per hour


What you will be doing:

  • Execute product distribution strategies to optimize inventory turns, sales performance, and profitability.
  • Analyze store, regional, and chain-level sales and inventory data to identify trends and implement inventory adjustments.
  • Support merchandise allocation strategies that align with the company’s assortment and "Treasure Hunt" philosophy.
  • Manage seasonal product distributions and inventory flow based on planning and purchasing direction.
  • Monitor aging inventory, slow-moving products, and items approaching expiration, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support new store openings through appropriate inventory planning and assortment strategies.
  • Maintain and adjust store distribution groups based on demographics, sales trends, store size, and market characteristics.
  • Communicate inventory positions, product performance, and distribution plans across planning, purchasing, store operations, and distribution center teams.
  • Review inventory levels and replenishment needs with planners and buyers on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and present inventory analyses, reports, and recommendations to management.
  • Assist buyers with identifying and resolving potential inventory or product code date issues.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and willing to take ownership of assigned categories and responsibilities.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, recommend solutions, and drive results through effective inventory management.
