Job description

Inventory Control SSC Supervisor

Available Shifts: Wednesday - Saturday / 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM (Hours may vary based on business needs) Sunday - Wednesday / 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM (Hours may vary based on business needs)

Compensation: $65-70k annual

Job Purpose: The Inventory Control SSC Supervisor leads an office-based shared-services team that supports inventory control functions across all warehouse locations. The Supervisor directs and prioritizes the work of Inventory Control personnel to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant inventory records and provides centralized oversight of inventory transactions, adjustments, physical and cycle counts, reconciliations, reports, product holds, transfers, customer facility moves, customer claims, pallet-accountability programs, customer demand planning, and FEFO/FIFO reporting. The role investigates discrepancies, coordinates corrective actions with warehouse and cross-functional teams, trains and develops team members, supports audits and mock recalls, communicates inventory performance metrics and findings to management, and drives improvements in inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This role requires a highly professional, self-motivated individual who can effectively represent the Inventory Control function both internally and externally, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise daily inventory control operations; assign and prioritize work, issue instructions, expedite workflow, and review completed work for accuracy, neatness, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and oversee physical, cycle, special, and periodic inventories of finished goods, pallets, materials, and other inventory assets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry, inventory transactions, adjustments, transfer orders, reporting, and warehouse-system activity across multiple locations.
  • Review, reconcile, and validate daily inventory records, daily reports, cycle counts, variances, and stock levels; prepare composite and performance reports and communicate findings to management.
  • Monitor and audit on-hold inventory, specialized pallet programs such as CHEP and PECO, transfer orders and other inventory control activities.
  • Coordinate transfer-order execution and customer facility moves, including inventory planning, tracking, system updates, stakeholder communication, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
  • Support customer demand planning and prepare or coordinate FEFO/FIFO reports for customer transfer orders and excess inventories; escalate risks, priorities, and recommended actions as appropriate.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies by tracing item history, identifying root causes, resolving issues and coordinating corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Review customer claims and inventory adjustments to ensure appropriate research, documentation, approval and resolution.
  • Train, coach, and develop inventory personnel on procedures, systems, policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control policies, standard operating procedures, customer requirements, and applicable audit standards; assist with mock recalls, recalls and internal and external audits.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that increase inventory accuracy, reporting quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce safety procedures, work instructions, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to write and prepare inventory reports, performance summaries, and corrective action documentation.
  • Monitor employee adherence to inventory procedures and performance expectations.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and reporting tools to manage inventory activities.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
  • Responsible for payroll validations for all respective Inventory Control associates.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, Coordinating Cycle Count programs, Product rotation.
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
