Assistant Entertainment Editor Job Purpose: DDM Group is seeking an Assistant Entertainment Editor to develop and oversee engaging entertainment content for Atlanta Black Star . This position is responsible for managing a team of writers, ensuring editorial quality, and creating compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences. The ideal candidate is a skilled editor with a strong understanding of entertainment trends, particularly as they intersect with culture and society.

What Youll Do Collaborate with writers to pitch, assign, and develop high-quality entertainment stories. Craft engaging headlines and ledes to maximize reader interest. Identify trending topics and cultural moments to produce timely, relevant content.

Conduct in-depth research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and credibility. Stay on top of breaking news by monitoring social media, press conferences, community sources, radio, and news networks. Collaborate with the social media team to craft engaging news content that aligns with the brands voice and increases audience engagement.

Support the News Editor in managing editorial workflows and maintaining high content standards. Edit and polish articles to ensure they meet the publications tone, style, and quality standards. Oversee daily content production to ensure timely publishing.

Conduct final reviews of stories, verifying accuracy, tone, and adherence to editorial guidelines. Guide a team of writers, provide feedback to enhance their storytelling abilities. Assign articles to writers and manage the editorial process to meet deadlines.

Work closely with the Editors to execute content strategies. Who You Are: Skilled professional with a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in digital media, with a focus on entertainment.

Proven editing skills and strong knowledge of AP style. Demonstrated ability to write and edit headlines that drive traffic. Deep understanding of entertainment and culture, especially topics relevant to diverse audiences.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Experience conducting on-camera or written interviews is preferred.
