Assistant Director, Data Analytics

Reporting to the Senior Director, Data Analytics, the Assistant Director, Data Analytics works within the Data Strategy department to develop and deliver data services and to conduct analysis to better understand the work and further the organization’s mission to get and keep clients permanently housed. The Assistant Director manages data requests from departments and standardizes the communication and delivery of data services to stakeholders. They assist with evaluating relevant tools for data processing, visualizations, and distribution of data insights. The Assistant Director works closely with the Software Engineering team on shared projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team management
    • Successful oversight and performance management of a team of Data Analysts and Data Coordinator
    • Responsible for implementing supervisory strategies, and systems of accountability to ensure that staff have adequate support, guidance, and oversight at all times
  • Analytics and performance:
    • Support transforming data into actionable insights
    • Assist with creating detailed, user-friendly dashboards to empower evidence-based decision making by senior leadership
    • Respond to data reports requests
  • Data strategy:
    • Implement the vision for how data supports innovation, alignment, and strategic impact across the organization
    • Ensure priorities meet deadlines; assist with creating project timelines
    • Assist with managing imperfect data and utilize strategies to fill gaps in data systems
    • Collaborate with teams across the organization on data projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in data analytics
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience and comfort with SQL, R, and programming languages used for data analysis; and Power BI and data visualization software
  • Ability to read and document data methods in a variety of languages, such as R, Python, SQL
  • Strong data processing skills and experience in any programming language used for data analysis
  • Able to identify pain points and to help strategize solutions 
  • Ability to clearly communicate data limitations and methods behind data outputs 
  • Ability to produce outputs from a variety of data systems to support and create consistent, accurate reporting
  • Understanding of how to individually work with various, interrelated, data systems used by stakeholders
