(CCSI) has served Prince George's County for over 50 years, providing compassionate crisissupportthrough our hotlines, safe shelter programs, and information and referral services. We are the lead Victim Services Provider for Prince George's County and a leading homeless services provider, operating the county's only non-congregate low-barrier shelter. Our 24/7 services include the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988), crisis hotlines, domestic violence services, emergency shelters, and housing programs.

Position Summary


This position supports the Head Cook of Shelter Services with all activities related to the preparation, distribution and maintenance of food services to Shepherd's Cove residents.


* Candidates must be able to participate in and complete mandatory orientation and onboarding requirements.


Reports to: Food Services Coordinator/Head Cook

Employment Status: Part-time

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Location: Shepard's Cove Emergency Shelter


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Required

*Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately


  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Food Handler's Certificate required; professional certification from a culinary institution preferred
  • Experience working in a food services environment (i.e. cafeteria, restaurant, etc.) preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills


Responsibilities


  • Cleans all surfaces before preparing meals
  • Sets up and prepares meals
  • Assists in the supervision of kitchen volunteers
  • Performs major cleaning of refrigerators and storage rooms, cleaning the oven and stove
  • Assists in preparing lunch
  • Assists in preparing and serving breakfast by the allotted time in the absence of the Food Service Coordinator
  • Assists with preparing weekend meals that can be warmed by staff in the absence of the Food Service Coordinator
  • Ensure that paper products are adequate to serve food daily
  • Assists in food inventory control
  • Perform other duties as required
