Content & Communications Manager

Department: Advancement / Strategic Communications
Reports To: Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing
Status: Full-Time

Preferred Start Date: June 1, 2026

Salary: Starting base salary no less than $50,000 with opportunity for higher base salary depending on experience, education level, and credentials.

Position Summary

Marian Catholic High School seeks a creative, organized, and motivated Content & Communications Manager to lead day-to-day content creation and communications across digital and print platforms. This role plays an important part in advancing the Marian Catholic brand through engaging content that supports enrollment, fundraising, alumni and family engagement, student recognition, and institutional reputation.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and project manager with solid digital communication skills and a passion for storytelling. This individual thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages multiple priorities effectively, and is excited to showcase the energy, excellence, and spirit of the Marian Catholic community.

Essential Responsibilities

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Write and create compelling content for social media, website, email campaigns, print materials, advertising, and special projects.
  • Identify and develop stories featuring students, faculty, alumni, parents, and donors that highlight the Marian Catholic experience.
  • Conduct interviews, gather quotes, and capture content opportunities across campus.
  • Maintain an active editorial/content calendar aligned with school priorities, campaigns, and events.
  • Ensure all content reflects the voice, mission, and brand standards of Marian Catholic High School.
  • Develop and oversee a student content ambassador team to assist with photography, video, interviews, social media content ideas, and coverage of student life, events, and campus initiatives.
  • Mentor student contributors while ensuring all content aligns with school brand standards and communications priorities.

Social Media Management

  • Manage Marian Catholic's official social media channels, including content planning and day-to-day publishing.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging daily content across platforms, with a minimum of 5 posts per platform per week.
  • Monitor engagement, trends, comments, and analytics to improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, audience engagement, and real-time storytelling.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all channels.

Website & Email Communications

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and engaging website content.
  • Update pages, news stories, event information, and campaign content as needed.
  • Build and deploy email campaigns for admissions, advancement, alumni, and school-wide communications in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing.
  • Assist in creating landing pages, forms, and digital campaign assets.
  • Monitor digital performance metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Lead the refresh and ongoing improvement of school newsletters and recurring email communications to increase engagement, consistency, and overall effectiveness.
  • Recommend new newsletter strategies, layouts, audience segmentation, and content approaches for families, alumni, donors, and prospective students.

Photography / Video / Visual Content

  • Capture or coordinate photography and short-form video content at school events, student activities, and key initiatives.
  • Maintain an organized photo/video asset library.
  • Work with outside vendors or internal partners on larger multimedia projects.
  • Create reels, highlight videos, testimonial content, and promotional assets.

Event Communications Support

  • Create promotional assets for admissions events, fundraising events, alumni initiatives, athletics, and campus programs.
  • Support communication timelines including invitations, reminders, scripts, slides, signage, and recap content.
  • Coordinate content capture before, during, and after major events.
  • Assist with event-day storytelling and live coverage as needed.

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Coordinate deadlines, approvals, and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with admissions, advancement, athletics, academics, and leadership.
  • Support the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing on key campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, late nights, and weekends is required to support major events, deadlines, and time-sensitive communications needs throughout the year.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, content creation, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and interpreting performance analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Professionalism, initiative, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Appreciation for Catholic education and the mission of Marian Catholic High School.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with website CMS platforms, including Finalsite, email marketing systems, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Photography, videography, or video editing experience.
  • Experience working in education, nonprofit, athletics, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with the Marian Catholic community or Catholic education is a plus.
