Job Summary
Assistant Baseball Coach will assist the Head Baseball Coach with all facets of the program; to include organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division Il baseball program in support of the mission and core values of Tuskegee University.
Essential Job Duties
  • Assist head baseball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
  • Assist in the recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling baseball athletes.
  • Assist with the tasks associated with recruiting: Letters of Intent (signing) and official visits.
  • Monitor the students' class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel.
  • Serve as a role model for student-athletes.
  • Discipline, monitor personal appearance, conduct, image and general behavior of all student athletes.
  • Recruit on/off campus and sign students for Baseball Program.
  • Supervise staff and students in the department, who are assigned to this program.
  • Acts as a consultant and schedules team travel, hotel, meals and etc.
  • Evaluate athletes on physical condition and advises them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.
  • Serve as an expert in students' athletes and educate them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics.
  • Assure that athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are kept and forwarded to the proper agencies and authorities.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level.
  • Must have knowledge of NCAA rules.

Physical Demands
This position also may involve frequent bending, moving,lifting and carrying marterial weighing up to 50 pounds. This position requires standing four hours each day; working in all weather conditions.. Exposure to high noise levels. Additional physical demands include, but not limited to physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

  • Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Extension knowledge of individual and team skills with the ability to teach these skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with others

Ability:
  • Must be able to travel extensively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to present information in a clear and concise manner
