Position Summary

Jeff Wyler Automotive Family is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and people-focused Assistant Accounting Coach to join our Corporate Accounting team. This role is ideal for an experienced automotive accounting professional who is passionate about developing others, driving operational excellence, and ensuring accounting consistency across multiple dealership locations.

The Assistant Accounting Coach serves as a mentor, trainer, and subject matter expert for dealership accounting teams. This position combines technical accounting expertise with leadership, coaching, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to elevate accounting performance throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment, possesses exceptional communication skills, and enjoys helping others grow professionally while maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Leadership & Coaching
  • Partner with the Corporate Accounting Coach to train, mentor, and develop dealership accounting personnel.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to Office Managers, Controllers, Accounting Clerks, and administrative staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Identify training opportunities and assist in creating standardized accounting procedures and best practices.
  • Support onboarding and training of newly hired accounting team members.
Financial Operations
  • Review dealership financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Analyze financial reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure timely completion of account reconciliations and balance sheet schedules.
  • Support corporate accounting initiatives across all dealership locations.
Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, manufacturer requirements, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Assist with internal audits and operational reviews.
  • Recommend workflow improvements that increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Help standardize accounting processes across all dealerships.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
Systems & Technology
  • Serve as a resource for dealership accounting software and financial reporting systems.
  • Assist with accounting system implementations, upgrades, and process enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot accounting-related issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Support automation initiatives that improve reporting accuracy and productivity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with dealership leadership, Corporate Accounting, Human Resources, Operations, and Executive Management.
  • Build strong working relationships across all departments and dealership locations.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Automotive dealership accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and accounting processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between dealership locations.
  • Experience with Tekion a plus.
