Job description

Hintz Giuffre CPAs is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team on a part-time to full-time basis to support our non-profit clients. We are a fully remote office with occasional on-site client meetings required in the greater Milwaukee area.

Job duties will include:

  • Responsible for planning and coordinating the general financial reporting and accounting, cost reporting, and payroll functions of accounting/controller service clients
  • Performs all tasks associated with the general ledger, i.e. Balance Sheet reconciliations, entering monthly journal entries, investigate discrepancies in accounts and make corrections as needed
  • Facilitate bill processing; verify account numbers and addresses on invoices to ensure the accuracy of final payments
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statements and the preparation of narratives explaining financial results
  • Perform year-end adjustments of accounts and provide accounting and tax return schedules for audit
  • Analyze and standardize procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of work
  • Handle routine accounting questions, research accounting issues, and assist in audits and any tax notice resolutions
  • Develop relationships with clients
  • Recognize and inform management of opportunities to increase level and types of services to clients

Qualifications and Skills Desired:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Requires 3-5 years related experience in accounting, payroll processing, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Experience with QuickBooks and not-for-profit organizations is a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, bank statements, and accounting regulations
  • Developing understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, external auditors, and other employees of clients
  • Ability to quickly learn various software programs and databases. Requires a working knowledge of Excel
