JOB SUMMARY


The Account Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Business Development and Account Manager teams to ensure our accounts are handled efficiently and successfully. For one to be successful in this role, they must be outgoing, driven, a great communicator, have great attention to detail, and have the ability to be proactive when events arise. The Account Coordinator is the magic behind the Heartland experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Provide exceptional service to our customers and carriers.
  • Assist and support with client onboarding, management, and growth initiatives.
  • Provide frequent communication to team members, vendors, and clients; relentless drive and empathy are critical components to ensuring high levels of service.
  • Work to successfully execute operational tasks for all accounts assigned.
  • Work with the carrier team to ensure loads are covered and dispatched.
  • Communicate frequently with teammates and partners, including carriers, to ensure the shipper and consignee are aware of any challenges or issues that may arise.
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Schedule appointments, perform shipment entry, accessorial input, and monitor shipments in transit.
  • Ensure customer pricing is accurate.
  • Maintain and confirm customer profiles are up to date.
  • Communicate with clients across the team daily.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols to promote the integrity of our shipments and the Heartland brand.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work or military experience required.
  • 6 months to 5+ years of transportation experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills with an ability to communicate externally and internally with the highest degree of clarity and authority.
  • Must be able to wear both hats of a strategic thinker and a practical “doer.”
  • Adeptness to exercise judgment and discretion while functioning independently within a defined structure.
  • Aptitude for learning new TMS and CRM systems software.
  • Knowledge of freight brokerage.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and detail orientation with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • High-level problem solving, interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, and the ability to set strategy based on legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle a high volume of transactions.
  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests, as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying quality solutions.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations, display sound judgment, take ownership, and demonstrate accountability.
  • Exhibits strong listening skills with the desire to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and act with integrity and discretion.
