Fall 2026 Research Assistant, Business-State Relations in Authoritarian Regimes
At The New School, we redefine the boundaries of education, creativity, and innovation. This position is a Research Assistant position to support the research of a
faculty member under the project Business-State Relations in Authoritarian Regimes. This Research Assistant position will be paid hourly on a biweekly basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform research tasks under the supervision of a faculty member or associate researcher assigned by Professor William Milberg (e.g., literature reviews, data collection, basic analysis, and drafting support)
  • Assist with the organization of events and convenings hosted by the Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies (e.g., logistical preparation, coordination, and on-site support)
  • Attend events organized by the Heilbroner Center (including conferences, workshops, and talks)
  • Provide basic logistical support during events (e.g., registration, audio-visual support, welcoming speaker, note-taking, catering)
  • Participate in bi-weekly research assistant meetings to provide updates on progress and receive feedback
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors and meet agreed deadlines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current NSSR student.
  • Knowledge of the Turkish language is preferred.

WORK MODE
This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee. This assignment is for 10 hours per week over the course of above stated dates. #LI-DNI
HOURLY RATE :$31.37 per hour according to the SENS-UAW contract. You will have to submit timesheets for approval in MyDay.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902 and the University.
