Description
The Coordinator, Communications serves as a key member of the College's marketing team, managing college-wide communications to employees across multiple formats. This role is responsible for disseminating information related to campus activities, events, news, and reminders. The Coordinator collaborates with internal departments to support the development of promotional content and materials. Additionally, the Coordinator tracking and assisting in the management of College sponsorships, overseeing both the budget and the associated benefits of each sponsorship.
Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends, as needed.
Location: Springfield Location
  • Designs graphic art related to college activities, events, programs, areas, locations, strategic planning initiatives, and other campus-related information while meeting creative objectives for print, digital, and specialty advertising. Ensures all designs align with established branding guidelines, direction, and College standards.
  • Collaborates with internal clients to develop content and design promotional materials, including flyers, posters, templates, banners, specialty items, and signage. Creates design drafts for review and approval, edits materials, and prepares projects for final production.
  • Edits press releases, distributes communications to media contacts, posts content to the College website, and maintains media tracking databases and media contact records.
  • Coordinates meetings and builds relationships with departments and academic areas to develop schedules of upcoming events and create necessary promotional materials.
  • Assists with the coordination and communication of large college-related events, including Convocation, MLK Luncheon, Charter Night, Strategic Planning Day, employee appreciation events, and other campus events as needed.
  • Manages Clark State sponsorships, including budget oversight and benefit tracking. Assists with identifying targeted sponsorship opportunities that support the College and academic programs.
  • Updates marketing materials and web content to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and alignment with the College brand.
  • Assists with photography needs for College marketing and promotional initiatives.
  • Assists with maintaining College websites, including , pac.clarkstate.edu, and the myClarkState Portal.
  • Assists with budget management by monitoring accounts, initiating purchase orders, obtaining and processing contracts, and processing invoices.
  • Manages databases, office supplies, and related administrative resources.
  • Collaborates with programs, departments, work-study students, and intern positions to support marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Two years to five years of similar or related experience to include graphic design, coordinating events, marketing, and communication.
Education
(1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program (4) Five years of applicable industry experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Requires travel to multiple campus locations; a valid driver's license and/or dependable transportation is required.

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

  • Budget Impact: This position assists the executive director by overseeing and reconciling sponsorship and marketing budgets, in accordance with Clark State College policies and in compliance with requirements and regulations of the government.
