Reporting to the Academic Liaison with Apprenticeship Focus within the Office of Apprenticeship, this position supports apprentices and prospective apprentices within an assigned portfolio by helping them navigate apprenticeship pathways, progression requirements, and sponsorship related processes. As a member of the Apprenticeship Coordination team, the incumbent contributes to the development and continuous improvement of business processes, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery related to apprenticeship progression and pathway navigation.

The purpose of this position is to build relationships with apprentices, prospective apprentices, employers and industry representatives, and NAIT staff to foster opportunities for individuals to enter, progress through, and complete their apprenticeship pathway. This includes providing guidance related to eligibility, progression requirements, training options, and available supports and resources. The incumbent works closely with administrative, operational, and academic leadership within the schools to support successful navigation of apprenticeship and educational pathways.

Key Responsibilities

The Office of Apprenticeship supports prospective and unsponsored apprentices in navigating pathways into apprenticeship, with a focus on progression, sponsorship navigation, and successful completion of apprenticeship training.

  • Support apprenticeship progression through pathway navigation, guidance on sponsorship, trade selection, and connection to available apprenticeship resources and supports.

  • Sponsorship for apprenticeship program progression and completion

  • Provide resources for employment to apprentices.

  • Liaise with trades programs and departments across NAIT to support apprenticeship pathways and progression.

  • Attend events, presentations, and outreach activities to engage with individuals interested in the skilled trades and apprenticeship opportunities.

  • Manage and respond to a high volume of apprenticeship-related inquiries, cases, and student interactions.

  • Provide information related to mentorship expectations, mentor-to-apprentice ratios, and apprenticeship requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and apprenticeship-related information.

Relationship/Brand Management

  • Create and maintain relationships for students with both internal and external stakeholders to provide employment opportunities in their apprenticeship.

Enrollment Awareness

  • Maintain awareness of workforce demand, industry trends, and employment opportunities to support apprenticeship progression and retention.

  • Guide eligible participants on AIT and NAIT enrolment practices to support the participant's enrolment in their program of choice.

Student Support

  • Connect apprenticeship students to resources to support progression and academic success.

  • Awareness of EDI and how it supports and impacts apprenticeship.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships and manage conflicts effectively.

Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary education required (degree, diploma, and/or Journeyperson certificate with Red Seal).

  • 3 - 5 years of related experience

  • Driver's license

  • Due to the focus of this role in supporting apprentices, preference may be given to individuals possessing a Journeyperson certificate with Red Seal

  • Equivalencies may be considered

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Classification - Coordinator I

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Remuneration

Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $65,773.24 - $88,144.94
