Position Summary
The Automotive Customer Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive repair, tire, and maintenance services. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by scheduling appointments, preparing estimates, processing payments, coordinating work between customers and technicians, and ensuring services are completed accurately and efficiently. The role supports shop operations through effective communication, inventory monitoring, recordkeeping, sales opportunities, and maintaining a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
Duties amp; Responsibilities
Key Area
Tasks
Customer Service amp; Sales
Greet customers and assess vehicle service and repair needs
Provide accurate price quotes and explain recommended repairs and services
Communicate clearly with customers regarding service status, timelines, and costs
Upsell additional maintenance services, tires, accessories, and repair options when appropriate
Resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner
Scheduling amp; Service Coordination
Schedule customer appointments and manage service workflow
Relay repair and maintenance information to technicians to ensure work is completed accurately
Coordinate technician workloads to maximize efficiency and timely service completion
Follow up with customers regarding completed services and future maintenance needs
Administrative amp; Financial Operations
Prepare repair estimates and service documentation
Process customer payments and accurately handle cash, credit card, and other transactions
Maintain customer records, service histories, and documentation within the service management system
Answer incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries
Inventory amp; Shop Support
Monitor inventory levels of tires, supplies, tools, and accessories
Order parts, supplies, and inventory as needed to support shop operations
Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records
Safety amp; Organization
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional customer service area
Ensure shop and work areas remain organized and free of hazards
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Support a positive workplace culture through teamwork and professionalism
General Operations
Assist with administrative and operational duties as assigned
Support shop initiatives that improve customer satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications amp; Requirements
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience required; automotive service experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a service advisor, retail, sales, or automotive environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of automotive maintenance, repairs, and tire services preferred.
  • Experience working with point-of-sale (POS) systems, scheduling software, or service management systems preferred
Additional Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as business needs require.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds occasionally.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
