What You Will Do

As a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), your key responsibilities will be:

  • Driving FPGA Adoption: Identify, influence, and enable the adoption of Altera FPGA-based solutions at key customer accounts.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work effectively within a cross-functional team, including Field Sales Engineers, other FAEs, Factory Applications Engineers, Product Marketing, and Business Development.

  • Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with customer engineering teams to identify, develop, and expand new opportunities within assigned accounts.

  • Product Expertise: Possess deep knowledge of the FPGA product portfolio to drive sales in established product lines and seed growth in emerging markets.

  • Solution Positioning: Articulate the value proposition of Altera FPGAs, demonstrating how they provide optimal solutions for specific customer applications.

  • Technical Assistance: Assist customers with: architecture definition, solution evaluation, design and implementation of product requirements using FPGAs, IP, and development tools.

  • Technical Demonstrations & Support: develop and deliver compelling product demonstrations, participate in on-site customer visits to assist with product design and reviews, ensure customer requirements are met throughout the design process.

  • Customer Issue Resolution: Build strong relationships with customer teams to facilitate rapid resolution of technical issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Problem Solving & Analysis: Analyze data to diagnose problems, reproduce errors, and resolve or escalate customer issues effectively.

  • Feedback & Product Improvement: Provide timely feedback to manufacturing and product teams regarding product issues, future requirements, and market trends to ensure Altera remains responsive and proactive.

Compensation Range

The compensation below is reflective of a sales role that includes a salary + incentive. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market.Actual compensation may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc.

Qualifications:

We are seeking an experienced hardware engineer (e.g. 3+ years) with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience in FPGA, ASIC, and/or digital design

  • Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., include Quartus, Vivado, etc.)

  • Experience with VHDL or Verilog or System Verilog or OpenCL or high-level synthesis tools (HLS)

  • BSEE or related electrical/electronic degree

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd

  • Post Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in technical sales, applications, technical marketing, technical product marketing

  • Experience additional industry experience (examples include embedded SoC design, ASIC, ASSP, CPU, microcontrollers, microprocessor architecture, ARM based processor solutions, board level design, DSP, signal integrity, etc.)
