Job description

After School Program Staff (elementary)
*This position begins the second week of August 2026 and runs through the third week of May 2027*
The After School Program Staff member is responsible for supervising a designated group of Lower School students during the after-school program. This role ensures student safety, supports homework completion, facilitates play and activities, and provides a positive and engaging environment for students at the end of the school day. This person reports to the After School Program Director.
Classification: Non-exempt
Hours per week: Part time, will average 12-18 hours per week
Work Schedule: While school is in session:
  • Monday - Thursday 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm (or closing)
  • Friday 1:45 pm to 4:45 pm (or closing

Qualifications:
  • Agree with and exhibit behaviors in accordance with the Brook Hill Statement of Faith
  • Must be at least 17 years of age; High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred and some post-secondary training highly preferred
  • Have a passion and love for working with elementary school-aged children
  • Experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred
  • Ability to earn CPR/First Aid certification (mandatory)

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and manage a designated group of Lower School students, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Assist students with homework and support age-appropriate activities, games, and free play
  • Follow daily schedules and directions set by the After School Program Director
  • Maintain accurate awareness of student attendance, transitions, and locations throughout the program
  • Ensure students are released only to authorized individuals in accordance with established check-out procedures
  • Reinforce school rules and expectations, addressing minor behavior issues and elevating concerns as needed
  • Assist with snack distribution, clean-up, and maintaining organized program spaces
  • Support smooth transitions between activities and help ensure an orderly, positive environment
  • Participate in emergency drills and follow all safety procedures
