The responsibilities of an after school program teacher include providing activities for children in a class for a few hours after school. As an after school program teacher, you plan and implement a separate curriculum that is fun and keeps students occupied while strengthening the skills and lessons they are learning in school. Much like an instructor, you also assist with homework assignments. Other duties include maintaining discipline, keeping the classroom organized, and encouraging creativity. You monitor student attendance, prepare content for the class bulletin boards, inform parents of the material you are teaching, and coordinate snacks and bathroom trips. There are summer program job opportunities as well.
