Job description

Mercer County Adult Education Center is seeking a motivated and student-focused Adult Education Instructor to provide GED preparation instruction to adult learners throughout Mercer County.

This position includes both in-person and virtual instruction through Zoom. In-person is in our Grove City, PA, office. The position is available now.

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping adults achieve educational goals, comfortable teaching a variety of subject areas, and skilled at building supportive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities--

Instruction and Student Learning:

 Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Pennsylvania Career and College Readiness Standards.

 Provide instruction in GED subject areas including Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

 Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of adult students.

 Monitor student progress and maintain accurate instructional records.

 Administer pre-tests, post-tests, and other required assessments.

 Collaborate with program staff to select and implement effective instructional materials and resources.

 Integrate technology into instruction using platforms such as Zoom, Google

Drive, and other educational tools.

Student Support and Case Management:

 Conduct student orientations and assist with enrollment processes.

 Help students establish educational, career, and personal goals.

 Provide encouragement, coaching, and referrals to community resources when appropriate.

 Support students as they transition to employment, workforce training, post-secondary education, or career advancement opportunities.

Professional Responsibilities:

 Attend staff meetings, professional development activities, and state-sponsored training conferences.

 Maintain compliance with program, state, and federal reporting requirements.

 Work independently while collaborating effectively with program leadership and colleagues.

 Contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment for adult learners.

Leadership and Professional Development:

Serve as the program's In-House Professional Development Specialist by supporting staff training, sharing

instructional best practices, and helping foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in adult education instruction.

Qualifications

Required:

 Teaching experience, particularly in adult education

 Master’s Degree
