Job description

Join a mission-driven team dedicated to empowering adult learners and strengthening families through education. As the Adult Education Program Supervisor, you will play a pivotal leadership role in overseeing program operations, managing performance data and grant-related initiatives, reporting outcomes to stakeholders, supporting student registration and testing, and delivering engaging workshops and instruction to adult learners. Since 2003, our Adult Education Program has helped immigrants, refugees, non-native English speakers, and other adult learners build English proficiency, earn their GED, obtain citizenship, advance their careers, and achieve greater self-sufficiency. We are seeking a collaborative and resourceful leader with at least two years of adult education teaching experience, strong technology skills, and demonstrated success working in diverse, multicultural learning environments. The ideal candidate is passionate about adult education, values data-driven decision-making, and has experience supporting immigrant and refugee communities while creating engaging, inclusive learning experiences both in person and online.

Schedule.ย Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, working 2 days on-site (supervisor will visit 2-3 Aurora Public Schools each week) and 3 days remote.

Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity.ย Paid bi-weekly.

  • $56,604 - $84,871 per annum

Bilingual Language Differential Pay.ย Employees who successfully pass a language assessment are eligible to receive bilingual differential pay. This differential is provided as a fixed amount ofย $3,000 per calendar year, paid on a biweekly basis across 26 pay periods, and prorated based on hire date and fulltime equivalency (FTE). Eligibility and payment are subject to the language requirements of the position and the employeeโ€™sย demonstratedย proficiencyย in the language.ย 

Term-Limited Position:ย This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, term-limited position expected to end on or aroundย June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension if grant funding continues. This position is funded through the Aurora Public Schools and is contingent upon continued funding. Theย position may be eliminated if funding is reduced or discontinued by the grantor.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervisor Accountabilities: Lead a work group and provide direction on a daily basis. Provide feedback to employees and may provide input into performance review. Monitor and guide performance indicators.
  • Supervise the assigned department, including interpretation of test data, improvement of instruction, development of course curriculum and programs, and assessment of programs and instruction.ย 
  • Assist in the preparation of grant reports and funding proposals.ย ย Serve as the second point person for assigned grants.
  • Assist the Adult Education Manager with special projects, events, and reporting, as assigned.
  • Under the direction of the Adult Education Program Manager, assist with program development and implementation of program initiatives that are consistent with the Adult Education Programโ€™s objectives.
  • Support mission to become a Center of Excellence.ย 
  • Network and collaborate with partners that support initiatives under the Adult Education Program.ย 
  • Equip staff with the necessary skills to provide high-quality services to students within the framework of organization-wide quality improvement.ย 
  • Develop, implement, and lead learning and development initiatives for the Adult Education Program, including curriculum workshops, staff development activities, and special projects.
  • Observe and supervise instructors to design instructional modules, sessions, and materials with consideration for varied learning styles.
  • Regularly assess staff and provide appropriate training, especially in Adult Education All-Staff Meetings and on Teacher Workdays. Maintain training materials on a consistent and on-going basis. Manage performance concerns, as applicable, under the direction of the Adult Education Program Manager.
  • Supervise site-related problems.
  • Identify various instructional delivery technologies and train staff.
  • Organize department-wide training for instructors as needed, in classroom settings and online delivery formats.
  • Plan and lead Professional Learning Communities.ย 
  • Assist in the coordination and supervision ofย ย registration and testing. Be on call and available to provide additional support and guidance as the schedule and needs require.ย 
  • Teach engaging and student-centered group classes as assigned.ย 

Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s Degreeย 
  • Preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Minimum of two yearsโ€™ teaching experience with emphasis on adult education.ย 
  • Previous experience teaching or training adults in a classroom or in a virtual environment.ย 
  • Certification:ย Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA), or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire.
  • Experience teaching multi-level and multi-cultural classes.ย ย 
  • Ability to implement trauma-informed care practices when working with students.
  • Experience developing and delivering contextualized ESL instruction and/or integrated education and training.

Required Vaccinations and TB Test.
