What are the highest paying admin jobs?

These positions often require advanced organizational, communication, and technical skills, and may involve working in sectors like finance, legal, or technology where salaries tend to be higher.

What is the difference between Ad Hoc Admin vs Administrative Assistant?

AspectAd Hoc AdminAdministrative Assistant

Work EnvironmentTemporary, project-based, or on-demand tasksFull-time or part-time office setting with regular duties
Employer UsageHired for specific, short-term needsSupports daily office operations regularly
Search IntentLooking for flexible, short-term admin supportSeeking ongoing administrative support roles

In summary, Ad Hoc Admins are hired for temporary, specific tasks without long-term commitments, whereas Administrative Assistants typically provide ongoing support in a regular office environment. The choice depends on whether you need short-term project help or continuous administrative assistance.

What are some common challenges faced by Ad Hoc Admin professionals, and how can they effectively manage shifting priorities?

Ad Hoc Admin professionals often handle a variety of spontaneous tasks, which can make it challenging to prioritize and stay organized. Balancing urgent requests from multiple team members requires strong time management and adaptability. Utilizing task management tools, maintaining clear communication with supervisors, and setting realistic deadlines can help manage workload effectively. Developing a habit of quick note-taking and regularly updating task lists ensures nothing falls through the cracks, even on the busiest days.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

An Ad Hoc Admin role typically does not pay $10,000 a month without significant experience or specialized skills. High-paying jobs without a degree often include roles like sales managers, real estate brokers, or certain tech freelance positions, but these usually require expertise, certifications, or a strong network. Most jobs offering such high income levels generally demand relevant skills, experience, or entrepreneurial effort rather than just a job title alone.

What is ad hoc remote work?

Ad hoc remote work refers to temporary or task-specific work performed outside the traditional office environment, often on a flexible or as-needed basis. For an Ad Hoc Admin, this may involve completing administrative tasks remotely using online tools and communication platforms without a fixed schedule or long-term commitment.

What is the hourly rate for an admin assistant?

The hourly rate for an administrative assistant varies depending on experience, location, and industry, but typically ranges from $15 to $25 per hour. Entry-level positions may pay closer to the lower end, while experienced assistants or those in high-cost areas can earn higher wages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Ad Hoc Admin, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Ad Hoc Admin, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in administrative procedures, often supported by experience in office environments or related qualifications. Familiarity with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling tools, and document management systems is typically required. Excellent time management, adaptability, and effective communication are vital soft skills for handling varied tasks and shifting priorities. These skills ensure efficient support to teams, seamless operations, and the ability to respond quickly to changing administrative needs.

What are Ad Hoc Admins?

Ad Hoc Admins are administrative professionals who handle tasks or projects on an as-needed, flexible basis rather than following a fixed schedule or set of responsibilities. Their duties can range from data entry, scheduling, and correspondence to more specialized administrative support, depending on the needs of the organization. They are often brought in to manage overflow work, cover staff absences, or assist with short-term projects, providing valuable flexibility and support for businesses. This role is ideal for individuals who are organized, adaptable, and able to quickly learn new processes.

Job description

Role: Administrative Associate

Schedule: Midtown NYC (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Employment type: Starts as a 6 month assignment (hired on by the firm and provided with benefits) with a strong path to permanent conversion

Standard hours: ~8:30–5:30 with occasional evening support during busier periods

Compensation:

The full-time equivalent salary range for this role is $70,000–$80,000 annually, prorated for the 6-month assignment, along with benefits during the assignment period.

We’re partnering with a leading global investment firm to hire an Administrative Associate for their Midtown NYC office.

This is a great opportunity to join a high-performing, collaborative team in a role that blends events, food services, and administrative support, with strong visibility across the office and exposure to senior stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinate day-to-day catering and food services for meetings and events
  • Manage vendor communication, dietary needs, and order logistics
  • Set up and break down conference rooms, ensuring spaces are fully prepped before and after meetings
  • Handle hands-on tasks including food setup, cleanup, and maintaining shared spaces (pantry, conference rooms, etc.)
  • Support broader office operations, including reception coverage and ad hoc admin/facilities support

What they’re looking for:

  • ~1–3 years of experience in hospitality, catering, events, or administrative support
  • Exposure to a corporate environment (or interest in transitioning into one)
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong execution mindset — able to follow direction closely and deliver consistently
  • Polished, professional, and comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders
  • Team-oriented and adaptable, with a willingness to be hands-on
