The Northshore Adult Day Health Program is looking for a fun and outgoing Activity Coordinator to join our team! SUMMARY: Provides activity therapy to maintain and, if possible, improve the physical, mental, and emotional well being of frail and disabled adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate with other staff in the development of each participants individual treatment plan, evaluation of participant progress and planning for discharge of participant.
2. Oversee the coordination and implementation of the monthly activity program. Integrate educational and therapy groups offered by other staff with the activity program to make maximum use of time, facility space and to provide an appropriate balance of daily program activities.
3. Plan a balance of purposeful activities that meet participants interrelated needs and
interests (social, intellectual, cultural, emotional, physical, and spiritual), taking into consideration individual differences in health status, lifestyle, ethnicity, religious affiliation, values, experiences, abilities, and skills with a variety of types and levels of activity opportunities.

5. Responsible for obtaining resources from the community to supplement the activity programs; encourage use of community resources by participants and utilize activities offered by the Senior Center.
6. Lead group activities.
7. Assist with feeding, ambulating and toileting, as needed.
8. Attend staff meetings and trainings.
9. Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and enhance skills that promote cultural competence.
10. Participate in events related to understanding institutional racism and building cultural competence.
11. Other duties as necessary and assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
1. Supervised by the Program Director.
2. Maintains positive working relationships with Senior Center staff, volunteers, funders, elected officials and others in the community. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This job supervises less than 5 staff, and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two year degree in recreational therapy or related field. Two additional years of related experience may be substituted for degree.
2. Two years experience in social or health related services, working with frail or disabled adults.
3. At least two years supervisory experience.
4. Physical ability to assist disabled participants with transferring and ambulating; must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
5. Willingness to obtain a yearly TB Test, Statement of Good Health, Food Handlers Permit, Series B Hepatitis test and CPR Certification.
6. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
7. Computer experience preferred.
8. Dependability in attendance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak effectively with participants, including those who are hard of hearing, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and to problem solve.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to sort, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Person must be able to physically assist disabled adult in transferring and ambulating.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The job is performed in a temperature regulated environment with a moderate noise level.
