Position Overview

The Activity Director – Memory Care plans, coordinates, and implements recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents with dementia. This role requires creativity, leadership, and a compassionate approach to resident care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and follow a monthly activity calendar, adjusting for resident needs

  • Coordinate activities with Assisted Living as appropriate

  • Encourage resident participation while respecting personal choice

  • Research and implement recreational therapies alongside staff and supervisor

  • Support resident rights and special needs

  • Assist activity assistants and participate in resident meals

  • Meet regularly with supervisor to review programs and resident participation

  • Report unsafe conditions, injuries, or suspected abuse/neglect to appropriate authorities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; activity specialty education preferred

  • Minimum 1 year experience in activities, memory care, or related field

  • Certifications: CNA or HCA credentials, Food Handlers (within 14 days), Fundamentals of Care Giving, Dementia & Mental Health Training (within 90 days), CPR + First Aid (within 30 days)

  • Washington State Driver’s License with clean record for past 3 years

  • Skills in communication, organization, leadership, and multitasking

  • Preferred: arts, crafts, or music experience

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push 250 lbs

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and repetitive hand/arm movements
