Job description

Wellfound is hiring a Per Diem Health Unit Coordinator to join our inpatient team. These are 12 hours shifts from 7 am - 7:30 pm. Candidate must be able to work weekdays as well as weekends.
Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is a 120-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Tacoma, Washington. We are Department of Health and Joint Commission accredited. We are an acute care psychiatric hospital providing care to both voluntary and involuntary patients.
Position information:
Supports patient care in the performance of general clerical, reception and scheduling duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The incumbent fosters positive customer relations and communications.
What We Require:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification/License:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Work Experience:
  • One (1) year administrative support in healthcare required, preferably in a mental health setting.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Enters/transcribes orders into information system and on appropriate forms so that patient information is current; communicates orders to involved department(s) as necessary.
  • Performs receptionist duties at the assigned station; handles incoming and outgoing communications, transfers calls appropriately, answers questions and assists visitors in accordance with established procedures. Gives messages to patients and staff members
  • Updates and verifies patient data in information system; maintains unit specific records as assigned.
  • Aids in making appointments if requested.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work environment; orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary; identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair requests in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
  • Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.
  • Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities. Participates in growth opportunities.
  • Work at Mental Health Tech as needed until scheduled staff arrive
  • Complete bed board and EVS application sin EPIC for bed cleaning
  • Provides customer service and meets patient needs as requested
  • Communicates with dietary regarding meals when needed
  • Delivers labs specimens as requested
  • Assists in obtaining required patient information
  • Completes insurance verification and registration of patients in I amp;A completely. Manages WQs in EPIC to ensure proper registration for all patients.

  • Hourly: $21.75 - $40.33 depending on experience on the union scale

  • You will accrue Paid Sick and Safe Leave at 1 hour per 40 hours worked. Paid Sick leave cannot be used until 90 days after your hire date.
  • Paid Time Off will be accrued based on hours worked and tenure. You will accrue 0.12 hours of PTO per hours worked until you reach the next level of accrual. PTO cannot be used until 90 days after your hire date with the exception of designated Wellfound holidays.

As a condition of employment, you must join the SEIU Union within thirty (30) calendar days of employment and remain a member in good standing of the Union, unless you submit and are approved for a religious exemption.
