Senior Designer – NikeSKIMS

About NikeSKIMS: At the intersection of sport, style, and innovation, NikeSKIMS is building a new category of performance products that seamlessly merge athletic performance with elevated design.

Position Summary

The Senior Designer will play a key role in shaping the design and development of NikeSKIMS apparel and performance essentials. This individual will bring a strong understanding of performance-driven design, technical materials, and modern silhouettes to create product that is both functional and culturally relevant.

Working closely with Design Leadership, Product Development, Merchandising, and Innovation teams, the Senior Designer will translate creative direction and concept frameworks into compelling product designs that meet both athlete needs and consumer expectations.

This role requires a designer who is both highly creative and technically knowledgeable, capable of pushing innovation while maintaining a strong understanding of fit, fabrication, and performance functionality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Design & Development: Design innovative performance apparel and essentials aligned with the NikeSKIMS product vision and seasonal design direction.
  • Translate concept frameworks into clear, compelling product designs including silhouettes, materials, trims, and technical details.
  • Develop detailed technical sketches, design packages, and prototypes to support the product development process.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Development and Materials teams to ensure designs meet performance standards, fit expectations, and commercial viability.
  • Innovation & Performance Focus: Integrate performance-driven design principles, including functionality, movement, and athlete needs.
  • Explore new construction techniques, materials, and fabric technologies that elevate comfort, performance, and durability.
  • Contribute to the development of new product categories and performance solutions within the NikeSKIMS portfolio.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Merchandising and Planning teams to align design direction with product assortment strategies.
  • Work closely with Concept Design and Brand Creative teams to ensure design execution aligns with overall storytelling and seasonal narratives.
  • Collaborate with Technical Design and Fit teams to refine garments and ensure exceptional fit across diverse body types.
  • Trend & Consumer Insight: Stay informed on emerging design, sport, and cultural trends to influence product innovation.
  • Apply consumer insights and athlete feedback to improve product functionality and relevance.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 6–10 years of experience in apparel design, preferably within performance, activewear, or technical product categories.
  • Strong understanding of technical apparel construction, fabrics, and performance functionality.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and other design tools.
  • Experience creating technical sketches, tech packs, and development documentation.
  • Strong ability to translate creative direction into commercially successful product designs.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams.
