Job description

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the daily accounting operations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information for the credit union. Supervises accounting staff, supports month-end and year-end close processes, supports compliance with regulatory and audit requirements which includes maintaining strong internal controls and supporting financial reports

What youโ€™ll be doing:

Dupaco Leadership

  • Responsible for departmentโ€™s daily work and creating and/or executing on strategic priorities and department operational plans.
  • Supervise and provide coaching and development for employees to ensure employees are engaged and effectively meeting expectations of their jobs.
  • Budget, monitor and approve operational expenses including training, workforce, and other department expenses.
  • Create and maintain collaborative internal and external relationships through internal peer groups / focus groups as well as various industry and/or community organizations both regionally and nationally.
  • Monitor current trends and insights brought forward by various surveys or other voice of the employee and member methods.
  • Exhibit overall Dupaco Leadership skills such as initiative, change management, and project management.

Job Expectations

  • Oversee daily accounting activities including cash management, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions in accordance with credit union policies and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and operational issues.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Support month-end and yearend close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare or review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, regulatory reports, and management reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Support compliance with GAAP, relevant regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Protect Credit Unionโ€™s value by keeping information confidential and assist in ensuring the credit union suffers minimal losses due to failure to comply with operational procedures, regulations, and applicable laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Youโ€™ll need:

  • An Accounting Degree from an accredited two or four-year school.
  • Proven experience in Accounting with a strong understanding of accounting processes and controls required.
  • Ability to lead and support employees through coaching, training, and daily direction while fostering accountability, teamwork, and a positive member-focused work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required, with the ability to professionally represent the Credit Union and effectively interact with members, vendors, financial institutions, and employees at all levels.
  • Strong computer proficiency required, including the ability to quickly learn and apply in-house software applications while effectively managing and navigating multiple accounting, financial, and operational systems.
  • Highly organized and resourceful with proven ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage multiple projects, and maintain accuracy while handling large volumes of detailed work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible and extended hours as needed to meet departmental objectives, operational demands, and business needs.
