Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting an Accounting Specialist for an equipment manufacturing company in the Rochester, NY area.

Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist will assist in managing all forms of financial accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting and account reconciliation. They will keep accurate records of both accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring that customers pay invoices as required and bills are paid when necessary.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts.

Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers. Generates monthly customer statements.

Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing requests and pursues payment on delinquent accounts via communication with account holder.

Maintains log of payment promises and pertinent account details, schedules follow-up communication with account holder.

Manages cash and check deposits for bank on an everyday basis.

Facilitates payment of vendors, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.

Reconciles accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records (e.g., vendor statements and subsidiary ledger).

Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
Maintains required documentation to prepare and submit 1099s.

Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
Answers and transfers phone calls.

Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Thorough understanding of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
