Job Description

We are seeking Customer Engineering Program Manager (EPM) to drive the execution of highly technical projects across engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory disciplines for Butterfly Embedded. The EPM will be responsible for program execution from concept to commercialization, ensuring that Octiv and its partners meet critical technical milestones while maintaining high efficiency. This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and experience leading complex projects in regulated environments.

Responsibilities
  • Program Execution: Own the planning and execution of technical projects across the R&D, product development, new product introduction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with engineering, regulatory, quality, legal, and supply chain teams to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Budgeting & Resource Management: Track and manage project budgets, forecasts, and internal time tracking for accurate financial reporting.
  • Technical Roadmap Alignment: Maintain alignment between Octiv's technical priorities and those of its partners, ensuring deliverables meet strategic goals.
  • Milestone Tracking: Keep detailed records of project milestones, technical dependencies, and risk management plans.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Coordination: Work with internal and external teams to ensure medical device compliance, including FDA, ISO, and other regulatory standards.
  • Logistics & Order Fulfillment: Oversee procurement, production scheduling, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of products and components.
  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in project execution and improve processes to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Technical background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in program/project management: 4+ years managing complex technical projects, preferably in hardware, semiconductors, or deep tech.
  • Highly organized and efficient: Proven track record of handling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to translate technical challenges into actionable program management plans.
  • Experience with regulated industries: Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, IEC 60601, or similar standards.
  • Data-driven decision-making: Proficient in project tracking, reporting, and analytics tools.
  • Ability to work across disciplines: Experience coordinating work across hardware, software, and regulatory teams.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it's ok if you don't!):

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with ultrasound or other medical imaging technologies.
  • Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of software development processes and integration workflows.
Location

At Butterfly we offer a hybrid work environment. For most employees, this means part time in the office (two or more days a week). Compensation

Our estimated salary for this role based in San Francisco is around $170,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
