Summary:

The Commercial Card Segment Risk Manager Sr serves as the first-line risk leader responsible for the governance, oversight, and risk management of the Commercial Card and Payables portfolio. This role partners closely with Product Management, Treasury Management, Operations, Technology, Compliance, AML, Fraud, Legal, and Second Line Risk functions to ensure products and services operate within the Bank's risk appetite while supporting business growth and innovation.  The role is accountable for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks across commercial card products, payables solutions, virtual cards, expense management platforms, and emerging payments capabilities. The Commercial Card Segment Risk Manager Sr will provide strategic risk guidance throughout the product lifecycle, oversee client-related risk activities, and drive the development of scalable risk frameworks that support sustainable portfolio growth. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-to-end risk oversight for the Commercial Card and Payables portfolio, including virtual cards, purchasing cards, travel and entertainment cards, integrated payables, and related payment solutions.
  • Establish and maintain portfolio-level risk assessments, risk inventories, risk appetite metrics, and control frameworks.
  • Evaluate new products, product enhancements, strategic initiatives, and partnerships to identify potential operational, compliance, fraud, reputational, and financial risks.
  • Support complex client onboarding, diligence, and risk assessments for commercial card and payables clients.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Advisors, and Commercial Banking teams to provide risk guidance for prospective and existing clients.
  • Design, implement, and enhance risk management processes, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Present risk assessments and recommendations to senior leadership, governance committees, and executive stakeholders.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of risks related to Commercial Card credit exposure, underwriting and approval processes, portfolio management, fraud, servicing, onboarding, customer due diligence, card network requirements, and operational controls.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, card network requirements, credit policy updates, fraud trends, emerging payment risks, and operational developments relevant to Commercial Card.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 4 additional years of segment-specific or risk-related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, Commercial Card, Credit Card, Payments, Operational Risk, Credit Risk, or related financial services functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial payments, commercial cards, treasury management, or corporate banking
  • Strong knowledge of commercial card products, virtual card solutions, payables automation, card network rules, and payment processing.
  • Experience with first-line risk management frameworks and regulatory expectations within a banking environment.
  • Familiarity with operational risk, fraud risk, AML/BSA, third-party risk, and compliance management.
  • Experience participating in regulatory exams, internal audits, and issue remediation programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CRISC, CRCM, CISA, CAMS, CERP, or PMP preferred.
