Job description

Summary of position:

The Process Engineer will be responsible to develop and maintain the most efficient processes for assigned processes and products. The Process Engineer will troubleshoot processes related issues and provide technical expertise for both product and processes assigned in order to improve efficiency, flow production, productivity, reduction of scrap and rework, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. The Process Engineer may have direct report responsibilities such as Process Technician, if applicable. The Process Engineer will work closely with the Program Launch Managers, Quality, Maintenance, Production and Corporate Departments. The duties and responsibilities are not limited to the following and direction may be given by the Engineering Manager outside the scope of items below:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Establish and optimize process parameters for existing and new product lines in order to implement and maintain the most efficient process with the focus on improving: Process Efficiency, Scrap, Rework and Overtime.

Analysis of production process parameters (i.e. for foam: chemical temperatures, chemical pressures, ratio etc.) to maintain production and quality standard, improve process efficiency and reducing process variation in order to reduce scrap and eliminate rework.

Lead systematic troubleshooting and problem-solving activity on complex manufacturing processes and systems in order to improve product quality.

Support the Engineering Change Process (HFI ECN Process) as needed including modification of Production Tooling & Fixtures, Capital, Operations Standards, PFMEA, Process Flow Charts and other HFI Process Documentation.

Lead the transition of New Model Activity to Mass Production with the Project Engineer and Program Launch Manager for all assigned product lines and ensure that all relevant issues are captured and communicated to the appropriate program team members. Lead or support new products and process development activities and trial builds.
Generation and championing implementation of multiple Continuous Improvement Ideas on existing product lines on a consistent basis throughout the year.

Provide on-the-floor presence and expertise to address daily process and equipment issues.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), strong data collection and analytics capabilities, strong root cause analysis skills and strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Databases).

Core Tool knowledge and expertise include: APQP/PPAP/MSA/FMEA/SPC
Education/Training:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent working experience in a fast-paced diverse environment preferably in automotive manufacturing.
Machine electrical controls and programming and Auto-CAD experience are a plus.
Experience with foam in place process is preferred.
