Job description

What Application Development & Maintenance (HR Technology) contributes to Cardinal Health

Application Development & Maintenance programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs.

The Principal, Application Development & Maintenance (HR Technology) leader is responsible for defining the strategy, architecture, governance, and continuous improvement of HR technology solutions that support workforce and business objectives. This role partners with HR, HRIS, and business leaders to optimize Human Capital Management (HCM) platforms (examples: Workday, ServiceNow), employee-facing technologies, data analytics, integrations, and process automation across the employee lifecycle. Serving as the primary technology expert for HR systems, the IT Principal drives AI strategy, innovation, ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards, and leads complex initiatives that enhance employee experience, operational efficiency, data quality, and organizational effectiveness while delivering measurable business value from HR technology investments.

Location - Ideally targeting individuals local to Central Ohio who are willing/able to operate in a hybrid work model (2-3 days per week in-office at our corporate HQ in Dublin, OH)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR leadership and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digital transformation that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency across the Human Capital Management technology ecosystem (examples: Workday, myHR ServiceNow)
  • Define HR Technology AI Strategy: Influence, shape and communicate a clear roadmap for AI-driven enhancements within the HCM technology ecosystem.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions that improve HR service delivery, workforce productivity, and business outcomes.
  • Own the product development lifecycle of AI features and extensions from ideation and prioritization to delivery
  • Provide leadership for complex HR technology initiatives and cross-functional projects, influencing stakeholders, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring successful delivery of strategic business objectives.
  • Partner with Global HR Services Business Leaders, HR Centers of Excellence Business Leaders, Enterprise Architecture, AI Center of Excellence, Risk, Security, and Corporate leadership to operationalize business strategy through introduction of new enterprise technology solutions
  • Develop and maintain the HR Technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with HR priorities, workforce objectives, and overall enterprise technology direction.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience building and influencing relationships with HR leaders (HR Business Partners, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Global HR Services), executives, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and results.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating emerging technologies and recommending innovative solutions that advance HR capabilities and organizational performance.
  • Ability to develop and execute HR technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business and workforce objectives.
  • Provide expert leadership on HR technology platforms
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex HR technology programs and initiatives from planning through implementation and ongoing optimization.
  • Ability to drive process improvement, automation, and digital transformation to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency
  • Ideally targeting individuals with 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise application development and maintenance

Anticipated Salary Range $135,400 - 228,910
