Telephone triage nurses work most often in hospitals that have a specialized telephone triage ward. They can sometimes work for remote consultation services or crisis hotlines. Not all hospitals or health care facilities are equipped with the necessary things to handle remote triage. Another place a triage nurse might work is a poison control center, where you listen and record the symptoms of a person who has ingested poison and then decide whether they need emergency care.
