Where do patrol officers work?

Patrol officers work in a wide variety of environments. Most are assigned to patrol a specific geographic area within their jurisdiction. It’s their job to monitor the area for criminal activity and traffic violations. They also respond to emergency calls within the area. Patrol officers often leave their main geographic area in the event of a nearby criminal or medical emergency. The career requires working out in the field, often in high-stress situations. A small portion of a patrol officer’s job duties usually can be completed in an office environment.
