Where do oilers work?

Career: Oiler

The vast majority of oiling jobs are found on ships, both naval and private. There are some positions available in production facilities for manufacturing as well. Of those on ships, most are found in the engineering department, working with fuel and motive equipment. Oilers work in cramped quarters and around loud machinery. As part of your duties, you may go to different parts of the ship to assist in other mechanically and physically-oriented tasks, whether that be doing electrical work or helping with shipping duties.
