Where do music therapists work?

Music therapists work for a variety of employers, often in health care settings such as private practices, medical and psychiatric hospitals, clinics, outpatient treatment facilities, nursing homes, and hospices. However, music therapists also work in non-medical settings as well, including senior centers, schools, and day care centers. Music therapists usually have a dedicated room for therapy, which may include different types of instruments, headphones, and computer programs. Some therapists travel to locations with their instruments, accessories, and music to work at patient homes or in schools.
