Midwives help new parents prepare for childbirth. Midwives may offer their services in a hospital maternity ward, birthing center, or client home. Some midwives work as independent contractors after they become certified while others work as employees for home health agencies, hospitals, or outpatient health centers. To accommodate the needs of their client, midwives may also travel to a birthing class or doctor’s visit.
