Where do histotechnicians work?

Histotechnicians typically work in laboratories, research facilities, hospitals, and other medical clinics. Generally, histotechnicians work in facilities where surgeries take place or where tissues can make their way to the lab quickly and without contamination because fresh tissue gives a higher level of accuracy to the pathologist's findings. In this career, you almost always work in clinical settings where it is easier to keep the facility sanitary. Some tissues that you work with are diseased and require special handling and care during processing and cleanup, so your responsibilities go beyond processing tissue and occasionally lead to infectious disease control. It is important that histotechnicians wear gloves and scrubs and follow all hygiene protocols.
