Where do geographers work?

Geographers can work for a wide range of employers. Depending on your area of interest or expertise, you may work for the government, whether in an office, out in the field, or even abroad with the armed forces. You may do environmental planning or town planning, which would involve a combination of field and office work to create a design and map for the project. If you’re looking for private sector jobs, you may work for a non-profit tracking environmental issues, a utility company, or as an environmental consultant for a range of different organizations. You also may find a company who wants you to do research.
