Where do forensic psychiatrists work?

Career: Forensic Psychiatrist

A forensic psychiatrist works in a wide variety of environments, depending on the legal or psychiatric issue at hand. You may need to be in court, to act as an expert witness during a criminal trial, or you may specialize in the diagnosing and treatment of mental illness in a detention facility. In other cases, you might be called upon to offer advice to defendants or help determine if a person is competent to stand trial or deliver testimony, in which case your work takes place in a more traditional office setting.
