Where do epidemiologists work?

Most commonly, epidemiologists work in hospitals and for government agencies at the state, local, or federal level. They also work in academia, conducting research and teaching at universities. Because epidemiological work focuses on statistical analysis, most epidemiologists work in an office and not in a laboratory or clinic. Some epidemiology jobs may include field work for community outreach or to directly administer surveys.
