Where do art directors work?

Art director positions can be found in a variety of industries. Most art directors choose an area of expertise and focus their career on the unique aspects of it. For example, you can work for a book publisher, overseeing cover illustrations for children's’ book publications, which are full of art. You may work in media, such as television or web-based design. Other options for your career are advertising, directing the image content for marketing publications or print journalism, managing the art department for a magazine or newspaper.
