Animal scientists work in a variety of settings. Many work in an office where the main duties are administrative. Others work hands-on with the animals, providing basic care and performing research. Some animal scientists work primarily in a laboratory, where they analyze collected data and samples. Positions are also available at government regulatory agencies. In this role, you inspect dairies, feedlots, and other facilities for compliance with all laws. Some animal scientists go on to become teachers or professors.
