What is the work environment for an animal control officer?

An animal control worker may spend time doing paperwork or reports in an office, but much of their workday is spent out in the community. In this career, you spend a lot of time outdoors, regardless of the season or weather conditions. Comfort working in potentially hazardous environments is crucial. Your duties may also take you to animal shelters or kennels and into people’s homes and businesses. You may have to crawl into tight spaces to capture an animal or provide aid to an injured pet.
