What is the difference between a shift leader and a manager?

There are a couple of differences between a shift leader and a manager. First and foremost, a manager oversees shift leaders as well as other employees. Some shift leaders only oversee a department, like a kitchen at a restaurant, while the manager oversees all of the employees within that restaurant, not just an individual team. Another difference is that a shift leader has less responsibility than a manager. A manager generally handles the overall inventory, budgets, and all other facets of the business, while a shift leader is only responsible for overseeing staff and ensuring high customer satisfaction rates.
